Use real public FRED data to show how US inflation and the effective federal funds rate have moved since 2019. Work in this repository and use Stata 18. Fetch CPIAUCSL and FEDFUNDS from FRED's public CSV download. The prepared snapshot at demo/fred/fred_snapshot.csv is a fallback if the download fails. Do not overwrite either raw file. Save new work under demo/fred/live/. Build the live solution without reading demo/fred/analyze.do or demo/fred/reference/; those are prepared presenter backups. 1. Inspect the series definitions, units, dates, duplicates and missing months. 2. Calculate inflation as 100 * (CPI this month / CPI 12 months earlier - 1). FEDFUNDS is already a percent rate; do not transform it again. 3. Write and run a reusable Stata do-file. Create a chart with both monthly rates since 2019, an analysis CSV and a short audit of missing months. 4. Check one inflation value by hand against the CPI levels. Keep gaps visible in the chart. Cite the two FRED series and the download date. 5. Show the files and commands used. Explain what the chart describes and what it cannot establish. Do not infer a causal effect from the two lines. Give me a brief plan first, then carry out the work. Ask before changing anything outside demo/fred/live/.
